01Our focus

A specialist practice, not a general accountant.

The mainstream accounting profession was not built for Indigenous businesses. Templates assume metropolitan operations, predictable cash flow, standard governance, and a workforce that fits a payroll system out of the box.

Indigenous businesses – sole traders, family enterprises, Aboriginal corporations and community-controlled organisations – operate in a different reality. Grant-funded cash flows, CATSI Act obligations, remote infrastructure, complex workforces, and the trust deficit that comes from being served badly by the profession in the past.

We have chosen to work only in this space. The specialism is the point.

We work in long-term relationships and commit to new clients carefully. Most of our clients have been with us for more than two years. We measure our impact independently – SVA Consulting's 2026 SROI study is the receipts.

02How we work

From active crisis to sustainable growth.

Six stages, not always in order. Most clients move through them — some skip, some return. Hover any stage to see what it feels like.
What it feels like

Being able to ask questions you'd been embarrassed to ask elsewhere. The shame that often surrounds compliance starts to dissolve.

What changes

Active crisis brought under control. ATO obligations resolved through SBR, payment plans or remediation. The business stops haemorrhaging.

What you learn

Knowing what tax is and isn't, what a BAS does, what cash flow means in your context. Confidence to engage with the system rather than avoid it.

What you have

Systems that work without our hands on them. Bookkeeping that's current. Reporting that's audit-ready. Infrastructure of a sustainable business.

What shifts

You make decisions on your own terms, with your own information, on your own timeline. Our role shifts from operator to advisor.

What's possible

Growth happens at the pace and shape you choose. Not growth driven by external pressure – growth driven by capacity.

Trust
A culturally safe, relational foundation. The shame that often surrounds compliance starts to dissolve.
Stabilisation
Active crisis brought under control. ATO obligations resolved. The business stops haemorrhaging.
Confidence
Building financial literacy — knowing what tax is, what a BAS does, what cash flow means in your context.
Capability
Independent systems and decision-making. Bookkeeping current. Reporting audit-ready.
Agency
Decisions made on your own terms, with your own information, on your own timeline.
Growth
Sustainable growth at the pace and shape you choose — not driven by external pressure.

Cultural and emotional safety is the foundation across all stages.

03What we do

Two streams of work, one practice.

Each stream serves a different client situation. They share a workflow, a team, and a way of working – but the entry point and pace differ.

Stream 01

Crisis advisory and stabilisation

Forensic accounting, Small Business Restructuring (SBR) pathway support, ATO negotiation and debt remediation. The work that keeps Indigenous businesses alive.

  • SBR debt relief pathway support
  • ATO negotiation and remediation
  • Forensic accounting and triage
  • Risk reduction and immediate stabilisation
Stream 02

NFP and Aboriginal Corporation compliance and strategy

End-to-end work for community-controlled organisations, CATSI corporations and grant-funded NFPs – built for grant cycles and community governance.

  • CATSI Act compliance and ORIC reporting
  • NFP audit preparation
  • Grant acquittal and program reporting
  • Strategic financial advisory

I was desperately in need of someone to help me navigate my business's financial situation. Then I met Together Business, and they taught me what was going on and coached me through the whole process. I am so much more confident now.
